Paul B. Preciado is a philosopher, curator, and transgender activist. He is curator of public programs for the largest international European art and culture exhibition, documenta 14 (Athens and Kassel). Preciado’s books in English include Testo Junkie: Sex, Drugs, and Biopolitics in the Pharmacopornographic Era (2013) and Pornotopia: An Essay on Playboy’s Architecture and Biopolitics (2014). He lives between Paris, Barcelona, and Athens.Kevin Gerry Dunn is a translator of Spanish-language fiction and academic writing on gender, art, and immigration. His recent translations include works by Josefina Fernández, Ramón Arturo Gutiérrez, and Cristian Perfumo.Jack Halberstam is visiting professor of gender studies and English at Columbia University and is the author of a number of books, including most recently, Trans*: A Quick and Quirky Account of Gender Variability (2018).

A delicious read for anyone who wants out of the relentless and boring world of the straight body and the limits to what it thinks it should do. Who needs this book? You do! That is, if you're willng to let go of fixed ideas of who you are in your body. Having fun with the book means stepping into its play with language, estranging how one thinks aboout who and what one is. But if you let go and get into it, its hot.
Another book about how the body is an illusion, how dysphoria is relief, how psycho-sexual surgery is all good... Look, if you need a PhD to convince you dildos are more real than one's own body, that the prostate is more real than the clitoris, that lying is true and truth is artifice... the question I'm left with is: who NEEDS this fictive theory? Who REQUIRES the idea that the body is plastic, that self-hatred and misogyny are mere affect?
