I ordered this journal for my niece who is a young teen. I had this item shipped directly to her. She lives in a different state than I do. Needless to say, I didn't have the opportunity to proof read the questions in the TEEN journal. Which is apparently is a necessary step if you are going to be gifting this journal to a teenager. There are several inappropriate questions such as "My sexual activity is____________" or "My favorite cuss word is______________". Although I feel like the concept of a 3-year journal plan is a great way for the writer to see how they grow and change from year to year, I don't feel that those are types of questions are appropriate at any teen level. Luckily my niece & her mother have a good sense of humor and were able to have a laugh about it. They understand the concept of the journal but hopefully will be passing over and ignoring the inappropriate questions.
Was extremely excited to give these books to my 12 year old nieces for Christmas. Thought this book would have harmless prompts each day but as I flipped through before wrapping I read "Feb 26: Is sex casual or serious to you?" Afterwards, I went through each page, and the majority were great questions, but some just inappropriate for a younger age.Jan 13- what do you think about drinking?Feb 22- how does your drinking or someome else's affect yout life?Feb 26- Is sex casual or serious to you?March 2- What do you think about drugs?April 7- Tell me about a time you stalked someone online.Aprill 11- What is your favorite swear wordMay 10- How much experience have you had sexually?June 11- Which drug have you thought about trying, or tried?August 20- My sexual activity is _______September 11- Have you ever questioned your sexuality?September 18- How do you feel about drugs these days?October 19- What is your phiolosophy on virginity?November 11- Do you feel pressure about sex? Please explain.Would definitely consider for a different age group.
I wish I would have looked over reviews more carefully. I bought this for a 13 year old girl because I have enjoyed other Q&A books. This first questions I see is "My sexual activity is __________". Also, "Is sex serious or casual to you?" Also questions about dark thoughts, drinking, and more. Not my choice of "teen" questions. Returning item.
I love this journal its really cute and I love the idea of answering questions every day for three years. I added some pictures for those who are curious how the pages look :-)
This A 3-Year Journal for Teens asks questions about sex, drugs, and alcohol, peer pressure. I returned it because those reason topics. I was looking for a journal for a young teenager and believed it was adult topics. If these topics don't bother you or its for an older teenager then this journal is good.
Ugh I really wish I would've read the reviews prior to purchasing. My niece had this on her Amazon wishlist so I ordered it for her for Christmas and like the other reviews (that I just read) state there are some really inappropriate questions (in my opinion) in the journal. Maybe it would be okay for older teens/young adults. Some questions may seem inappropriate/adult but I think are real questions teens deal with like; do you feel pressure to have sex, what are your thoughts about drugs, etc.. But questions that imply sexual promiscuity are a bit too much. It's a nice looking journal, nice pages and such. But I am not comfortable giving this to my niece with it containing some of these questions. Now it says it'll be $6 to return it so I don't know what I'm going to do with it. Some of the questions are too teen to give it to any adults.
At first appearance and skimming through the daily journal questions, this product seemed wonderful. However, there are about 10-15 questions that are not appropriate at all for young teens or even older teens for that matter! August 20th's question is, "My sexual activity is...". The writer and distributer of this book thinking this is a good question was very disturbing to me! My 13 yr old got a great laugh out of it, but it was not humorous to this mom at all! There were many other questions such as, "My sexual experience is..." "Do you identify with your gender?" Anyway, I just wanted to give other parents warning. The kids version has been very enjoyable for my younger child.
I got this for my daughter as a gift and she loved it. Now this may not be for all parents as there is serious context in here, such as drinking and boys etc as it is a diary. But i liked it for here as a place to journal real life and has questions to make her a better person.
