STEPHEN WEIDENBORNER was a professor of English at Kingsborough Community College, City University of New York for over thirty years. He coauthored several other composition textbooks with DOMENICK CARUSO, also a former professor of English at Kingsborough Community College.GARY PARKS is an English professor at Shoreline Community College, in Shoreline, Washington. He has been teaching composition, literature, and creative writing for almost 20 years. His research interests include online communication and distance learning, and he helped pioneer his college's first Web-based distance learning courses. A member of NCTE and CCC, he has given presentations at various assessment and distance learning conferences as well as at the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity. He is a contributing author to the Bedford/St. Martin's VirtuaLit Fiction site and has had short stories published in several literary magazines.

This book was required text for my last english class. I am impressed with the price for as much information as you get.This book guides you through every step of the research and writing process, from choosing a topic to completing the format correctly. Each step provides excellent detail, like "choosing a topic" where the authors help you avoid topics that are too broad, or too limitting.Good examples are provided, giving you a clear idea of what a research paper should look like. Since my class was online and without the assistance of classmates, I was able to develop a clear understanding of what was involved in a research paper and what the end result should look like.

Wile most of the information contained in this book can be found on the internet, having a paper book next to you for quick access is still nice when writing. The content at times is rudimentary but solid. I found it very helpful for checking minor grammatical nuances that I found myself to be slightly hazy on.If you require a serviceable book on undertaking a large research assignment and don't know where to turn this book can be your go to guide.

This is one of the few college texts I've hung onto through my Bachelor's. All of the different styles of paper are presented, in good detail. Topics are clearly shown and the samples alleviate most of your misunderstanding. The spiral binding is also very functional. As long as I have research papers to write, I will probably have this book.

Welp, I bought this book, and never opened it. Passed the class and still have the stupid book. I've never wrote a research paper in my life and never will.
