The author has a very nice, easy to read style. After reading her first book, although I already decided not to consider to moving to Panama, I bought this book (the next day) as I found it all so interesting. What is in her book is super important and helpful information every step of the way. the book is a mix of "you better know this" facts and also facts on if you decided to move there. I learned through this book and the first we would not be happy in Panama (I am not going to be a spoiler and make a list - buy the book) as many things we find as annoyances and things we just could not deal with are all wrapped up in one place, so why go there. I am so glad I read these books which I could not put down. They REALLY helped us. Besides determining if you might want to move to Panama, it is also information on a country and culture which in itself is very interesting.
For anyone who is considering moving to Panama I truly recommend reading book one and two of the series in order to familiarize yourself with challenges you will face.
Covers a lot of valuable information for the novice considering a venture to Panama. Book Two seems to offer more of the nitty-gritty of specific information which you can follow-up on your own - names of specific businesses, websites, and individuals which might be of assistance. It makes for a quick read and from there, it's up to you to follow through. Very helpful.

The first book was a lot more informative and probably all that is needed. The second book goes too much into detail about the author's personal experiences.
After devouring Ms. Vance’s first book, The Gringo Guide to Panama: What to Know Before You Go, in one sitting, I was thrilled to hear of The Gringo Guide to Panama II: More to Know Before You Go and could not wait to get my hands on a copy!The practical tips and the realistic expectation shaping information Ms. Vance shared was immensely helpful to me, and the book is also captivating in the way the stories come alive, as Ms. Vance has a wonderful way with words.I appreciated Ms. Vance’s respectful attitude toward Panamanians as she shared various aspects of their culture and ways of life. It’s refreshing and unusual to see someone honestly explaining the nuances of a culture other than their own in detail with so much tact.I wish Ms. Vance could have written this type of book to help navigate the other countries and cultures in which I have been immersed in my treks around the globe. The Gringo Guide stands out from all other travel books and is a must for anyone wanting an honest but respectful perspective on the realities of life in Panama.
This book really helped out on our visit there. Full of good information that paid for its self. Would recommend this to anyone who is going to travel, relocate, or move there.Where to go and restaurant sections were good for meeting expat's who seemed happy and cheerful.
