This is a fantastic book. It tells one so much about New York's development. I love it!
Beautifully written and illustrated. Easy to go from one era to the next. A wonderful introduction to my favorite city in the world!
While a noble idea to attempt to mend NYC's visual history with maps, this comes off as a very basic treatment if the city's vast history. The selected photos are not always of high quality and the maps are thoroughly jumbled with information that quite frankly has no context. You're better served nowadays with reading wikipedia entries rather than muddle through this.
